Some of you may be wondering why I haven't been posting lately, and where I've been. Well, part of the blame rests on school, or other writing. Sorry.
To make up for it, I would like to introduce you to the music I have been listening to lately, more than anything else. Yes, if you haven't guessed already, it's the new Broadway musical Hamilton.
Hamilton is amazing; it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton (spoiler alert: Aaron Burr kills him at the end) using hip-hop, rap, and bluegrass-esque music, all mixed together. It's kind of like 1776 with modern music. What makes it even cooler to me is that the guy who wrote the musical, Lin-Manuel Miranda, personally takes on the role of Hamilton in the original cast. Also, Aaron Burr is not completely vilified; he gets several very fabulous songs, as well as being the narrator for the whole play. And Jonathan Groff, renowned for the voice of Kristoff in Frozen, has an outstanding performance as crazy King George III (with three songs of his own).
There is probably no way that I can get to see it anytime soon; I think they're sold out for the next six months or something. So I have to make do with the entire soundtrack being on YouTube, and whatever clips or photos I can find online.
Warning: there is cursing, so I would not advise listening to it in front of children. And it addresses the Hamilton-Reynolds scandal, which I am still ashamed of Hamilton for. Other than that, this show is golden.
