Madiza lit a candle, and we took a look around. It appeared that we were in some kind of tunnel, maybe an old sewage pipe. There was an opening not far away. I decided to take a look, so I started to go that way. Matt grabbed my arm. "What?!" I demanded. "Be careful. You don't know what's back there," he said.
"That's why I'm going to look, bonehead," I said. Immediately I felt bad for the insult.
He insisted on coming with me. I didn't understand why Matt was so overprotective all of a sudden. However, I even sort of liked it. We went down the pipe, finally coming to the end. Cautiously I edged outward, craning my neck. There did not appear to be anything outside the pipe. Suddenly my feet slipped, and I found myself falling! I gave a small yell, scrabbling at the air. Matt ran forward and grabbed my hand, but he was just barely able to keep a hold on me. Soon he was on the ground, gripping my wrist with both hands, with me hanging outside. My arm felt like it was being wrenched from its socket.
"Click your heels!" yelled Madiza.
"What, and then say that there's no place like home?!" I demanded.
"If you like!"
Even though her advice seemed like nonsense, I didn't have much better options. I clicked my heels, and suddenly found myself being propelled upward.
"Whoa!" I yelled, managing to get a better grip on Matt so I wouldn't drop him.
"Now knock your toes together to brake!" Madiza yelled up to us. I did so, and instantly stopped, floating in midair. Matt and I looked at each other.
"Now what?" he called down.
"Just push your heels downwards, and you'll be propelled down!'
"I take it these are levitation boots," I said when Matt and I were safely back in the pipe. Ben wrote a message that said, "You ain't just whistling Dixie." Lucy ran forward and hugged both of us in what felt like a death grip. She knows I don't really like being hugged, but at that moment she didn't care.
"Okay, I vote we don't go that way," I said.
